About Us

Just like the fine antiques and collections our clients treasure, we are unique. We know of only one other company that does just some of what we do in custom hardware duplication.

We are located in Derry, Pennsylvania, but our reproductions can be found in hotels, museums, capital buildings, skyscrapers and banks throughout the Western Hemisphere, as well as thousands of homes throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

18th Century Hardware owner William Simpson has been assisting clients for over 20 years.  A native of Western Pennsylvania, Simpson is a mechanical engineer by trade who worked for corporations for over 30 years.  Now he enjoys working on his own for customers just like you.

What We Do

Furniture Restoration

Furniture movers and repair firms come to us regularly for items which were lost or broken in a furniture move.

We have, for many years, done work for customers referred to us by Henredon, Thomasvillle, Drexel Heritage, Pennsylvania House, Stickley, and others.

We fix or replicate and restore irreplaceable hardware for these firms and for the everyday consumer.

Hardware

We make handles, backplates, knobs, trim, car door handles, emblems, name plates and more.

Antique & Museum Restorations

That one-of-a-kind piece of hardware for your antique chandelier, the drawer pull for your vintage dresser, or parts to restore lighting and fixtures in our nation's capital, a royal palace abroad or, the most 'magical place on earth', we can reproduce or restore metal parts to their original condition.

Our Process

Here's how we can help you

If you can supply us with an original part, we can usually make a replica or reproduction. We will finish our duplicate to match your original. We make as few duplicates as one, or as many as you wish.  Many people get a spare to keep on hand for when the next original part breaks! Our duplicates are usually stronger than the original hardware. Occasionally, we make wood parts for drawer pulls, etc. However, 99% of what we make are metal parts.

Typically, we can determine the feasibility of a project via a phone call, but we also welcome notes, pictures and sketches be sent to us via U.S. mail to our Derry, PA location.  After its determined that we can help, we'll ask you to send original parts or molds and we'll get to work!
